Verify Like a Spy
Gathering Information, Vetting Sources, and Reporting Data
Hal Humphreys knows to trust, but verify.
As a lifelong appraiser and also a private investigator, he’s spent his career vetting sources, corroborating stories, and substantiating the veracity of documents. In this intensive two-hour review, Hal shares some best practices for how to verify information — including both primary and secondary sources.
Of the scant few times USPAP uses the word “must” (3 times, to be exact), the word “verify” is always there. Our work as appraisers depends on verified data. After taking this class, you’ll approach your appraisal research like an investigator or a journalist. Join us and learn to verify like a spy.
