Frequently Asked Questions

Appraiser eLearning is a provider of online continuing education courses for the appraisal and real estate industry. We offer quality online courses to appraisers that require continuing education credits (CEU and CEUs) as a part of their license renewal. Our online format makes continuing education (CE) both affordable and practical. You no longer need to carry the expense of travel and time away from work to complete your continuing education! Our courses are very reasonably priced to assure our commitment to your education.

To create a student account, all you need to do is purchase a course (or courses).

New Students

For new students, once you purchase you will automatically receive a Course Enrollment Email with your login information and instructions. Course Enrollment Emails should appear within 5-10 minutes after purchase is complete.

*Please be sure to check your spam and junk folders if you do not see your course enrollment email.

Existing Students

If you have taken classes with us before, this means you are an existing student and you’ve already created a student account. To order new courses, simply add your desired course(s) to your shopping cart and “proceed to checkout.” Upon successful purchase, your course(s) will automatically be unlocked in your account and you will login with your existing username and password.

*If you don’t know your username and/or password, you can click “Forgot Password” to email yourself a reset link. You can also reach out to our Education Director, Ben Maxwell, at ben@storyboardemp.com or by phone at (615) 988-6830 to reset your password manually.

Registration

To register, simply add your desired course(s) to your cart and purchase using your debit or credit card. Be sure to type your email, first name, and last name completely and correctly, as these will be used to automatically create your student account.

Upon purchase, you will automatically be enrolled and you will receive two emails- (1) An Order Receipt and (2) a Course Enrollment Email with your username and password.

Taking Your Courses

To sign into your student account and access your courses, you can click the student log in portal on the top right of this page, or follow the link sent to you via email.

At the end of each class, you will be required to complete a brief course evaluation and then you will be able to download a certificate of completion directly from within the online classroom. Please keep a copy of your completion certificate!

*Note – In some states you are responsible for submitting your completion certificate to the appropriate licensing authorities. In other states the education provider (Appraiser eLearning) is required to submit completion certificates on the student’s behalf. Appraiser eLearning must adhere to all State CE reporting requirements, although these may vary by state. If you are unsure about your state’s CE reporting requirements, please don’t hesitate to call us (615) 965-5705

Registration

Taking Your Course

To sign into your student account and access your courses, you can click the student log in portal on the top right of this page, or follow the link sent to you via email.

Our live-virtual courses are hosted via Zoom video meetings. The course materials in your student account will include the Zoom link that you will use to register for and access the live Zoom meeting on class day.

Be sure to click the Zoom link, complete the Zoom registration page, and join the meeting at least 30 minutes prior to class time in order to get into the meeting and go through the check in process.

Appraiser eLearning runs on a cloud-based e-learning platform, meaning it requires only a web-browser to operate.

Our online portal can be accessed from anywhere in the world with internet connection. Access your training 24/7. Our training platform works with almost all tablet devices. You can access your course from your iPad, Android, or any similar tablet device.

PIeducation.com works with all modern web-browsers. Recommended to use with Chrome, IE9+, Safari, and Firefox. The following browsers are supported: (Click on link to download most recent version of browser)

Our live-virtual courses will be conducted using Zoom Video Communications. The Zoom Meetings platform is live and interactive, allowing participants to engage with instructors and other students in the following ways:
• Direct video & audio interaction (students & instructors can see each other)
• Virtual Hand Raising
• Q&A chat thread (for student-to-instructor & student-to-student discussions)
• Screen sharing
• Polls
System Requirements
To attend a Live-Virtual class, first ensure you have access to:
• A computer with both audio and video (webcam or built-in camera) capabilities, so you can see and interact with the instructor and vice versa.
• Reliable internet access to facilitate video conferencing.
• We recommend your download the Zoom app on your computer, tablet or mobile device prior to class (it’s free).

Pre-Class Checklist
Prior to joining your virtual meeting on class day, we ask you to complete the following items on this pre-class checklist to ensure the best classroom experience:
  1. Zoom Meeting Software – Please watch this short video on how to join and navigate a Zoom Meeting: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362193-How-Do-I-Join-A-Meeting
  2. In addition, we recommend you download the free Zoom application on your computer, tablet or mobile device prior to class day. Click the following link to download Zoom in advance: https://zoom.us/download
  3. Test your webcam or built-in computer video camera. It is a state requirement that your webcam or built-in computer video be enabled during the entire class. To earn your CE credit for this class, 100% attendance is required and your video must remain active for the duration of class.
  4. Have a photo ID available to present via webcam at the beginning of class. To get CE credit for this Live-Virtual class, we are required by state licensing authorities to confirm student’s identity at the beginning of class.
  5. Please join the class 30 minutes early to ensure you’re able to successfully launch the Zoom class meeting and to go through the formal check in process.
Important – Course Book/Materials
For elective CE classes, all course materials will be included in your purchase. Student outline will be provided at the beginning of class.
For the 7-hour USPAP Update, you will need to purchase the USPAP book and student manual separately. Electronic copies of both the USPAP Book and the Student Manual can be purchased on the Appraisal Foundation’s website.

No. Our educational offerings are available to both licensed appraisers and anybody else who wants to learn about the appraisal industry.

How to Join the Zoom Meeting on Class Day

A Zoom link will be provided in the course materials, as well as any email communication regarding a live-virtual course. Click the Zoom link 30 minutes prior to class to launch the Zoom Meeting.

  1. Once you click this link, please register for your spot in class by confirming your name and email address on this page.
  2. After you register, follow the prompts to connect with computer audio and video and click Join.
  3. Then, wait to be admitted by the Proctor and have a Photo ID (to verify your identity) ready so we can take attendance.
  4. Once you are admitted and confirmed, the proctor will place you in a waiting room until all students have been admitted and roll has been called.

NOTES: You will automatically be muted when you join the meeting. To ask a question or give feedback, you can raise your hand or click “Unmute” at the bottom left corner of your screen in the audio settings, then begin speaking. Click “Mute” when you are finished, to avoid background noise or feedback distracting from the presentation.

Online Courses

No. You may log in and out of your course any time of the day by going to the LOGIN page.

Live-Virtual Courses

Due to the live, interactive nature of our live-virtual courses and the system requirements for Zoom, you will need to have internet access for the duration of these courses.

Our courses were designed to meet or exceed the minimum clock hours of instruction required by state laws. In many cases students can complete their entire continuing education requirements in a single day; this is especially helpful if your license has already expired and you cannot find a convenient continuing education seminar!

You are granted immediate access to your online class once you have completed the payment process. After payment, you will immediately be emailed a username and password to log in.

For our live-virtual courses, the course will be hosted at a specific date and time, which is provided in the course description and in any email communication upon purchase.

Online Courses

No. You can log back into your course and pick up where you last left off at any time. You may log in and out of your course any time of the day by going to the LOGIN page.

Live-Virtual Courses

Course dates/times will be provided in the course description. Typically, instructors will host the entire course in one sitting, with 10-15 minute breaks at the end of every hour. However, sometimes (such as with some of our USPAP class offerings) courses will be split between two days, to provide more flexibility and shorter class times.

Yes. When you complete your course you will be able to download and print your certificate of completion. Record the provided information for later use on your license renewal forms.

Student CE Reporting

Appraiser eLearning adheres to all State CE reporting requirements, although these may vary by state.

Self-Reporting: In some states, students are responsible for submitting completion certificates to their own state licensing authority.

Provider-Reporting: In other states, the education provider (Appraiser eLearning) must report student CE credits directly to state licensing authorities on the student’s behalf.

Yes, we are currently developing more courses to add to our course catalog. We update our website in real time as new courses get approved. The next time you return to Appraiser eLearning, you may find a new course!

Self-Paced Courses

Refunds will only be given within 24 hours of purchase if course has not been completed. A course is considered completed after the final examination has been taken.

Live-Virtual (Zoom) Courses

Refund requests must be made prior to the zoom link being provided. Cancellation must be in writing. After the zoom link has been provided, no refunds will be given.

At Appraiser eLearning, we are committed to protecting your privacy. We use the information we collect about you to process orders and never share it with anyone outside of our company.

When you order, we need to know your name, e-mail address, mailing address, credit card number, and credit card expiration date. This allows us to process and fulfill your order and to notify you of your order status.

So that you may access services and purchase the products and services that we offer through Appraiser eLearning, we require you to provide us with certain information that personally identifies you (“Personal Information”). The Personal Information we collect presently includes the following information: (1) your name, (2) address, (3) telephone number, (4) e-mail address, (5) state license number(s), (6) company or agency affiliation (7) course history information. If you communicate with us by e-mail or complete online forms or surveys, information provided by you in such communications may also be collected as Personal Information.

We monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the site, but collect no identifying information about our users to accomplish this.
We may also use the information we collect to occasionally notify you about important functionality changes to the web site, new services, and special offers we think you’ll find valuable. If you would rather not receive this information, send us an e-mail.

Appraiser eLearning uses the latest encryption technology to keep your personal information safe. All ordering information, including your name, address, and credit card number is encrypted using a secure server for maximum security. Your credit card and billing information cannot be read as it travels to our ordering system. To ensure that your information is even more secure, we will never see or be in possession of your credit card information. Credit card transactions are handled by a third-party financial institution, which receives the credit card number and other personal identifying information only to verify the credit card numbers and process transactions. If you feel more comfortable calling in your credit card information, just give us a call at 615-953-350. When we complete your transaction, you will receive your order number via our confirmation e-mail.

Appraiser eLearning does not sell, rent, or loan our customers’ personal information (including customers’ names and shipping, billing, and e-mail addresses) to anyone outside of our company. We take your trust very seriously, so the only messages you receive will be from us. This includes automatic order and shipping confirmation e-mails generated upon receipt of your order. Appraiser eLearning may provide aggregate statistics about our customers, sales, traffic patterns, and related site information to reputable third-party vendors, but these statistics will include no personally identifying information. Appraiser eLearning may release account information when we believe, in good faith, that such release is reasonably necessary to (1) comply with law, (2) enforce or apply the terms of any of our user agreements, or (3) protect the rights, property, or safety of Appraiser eLearning, our users, or others.

Everything you need to know about our live virtual class offerings via Zoom

  • Add any live-zoom course(s) to your cart and proceed to checkout.
  • IMPORTANT: Be sure to provide the correct state and license number information during checkout, as this will be automatically pulled into our system for your completion certificate and reporting to your state.
  • Once purchased, you’ll be automatically registered for the Zoom class meeting and you will receive a receipt via email.
  • You will receive a confirmation email with your JOIN MEETING link (save this! This is the link you will click to join the zoom class meeting on Class Day.)
  • If this is your first purchase with us, you will also receive an email with your Student Login Credentials, which give you access to your Student Account; Your student account is where you will access any online courses or completion certificates. 
  • If your Zoom Class comes with Course materials, they will be made available in your student account and also emailed to you in reminder emails (see “What to expect on class day.” below)
  • If you don’t see your confirmation email (and you’ve checked your spam folder), just email us (we make typos too, and we’re happy to help).
  • We highly recommend you download zoom for an even better in-class experience.
  • You’ll receive reminder emails the day before and the morning of class. (NOTE: If you register within 24 hours of class start time, you might not receive reminder emails.)
  • Be sure to click the Zoom meeting link and join the meeting 30 minutes before class start time, so we can get you checked in.
  • Check your time zone! All classes are listed in CENTRAL TIME, so adjust your calendar accordingly. Our reminder emails the day before and the morning of class will list the correct times for all time zones, for reference.
  • Download any course materials. You can find all appropriate documents for your course under “My Courses” in your student account.
  • If you are taking a USPAP update course, have the current USPAP publication on hand.
  • It is required that you keep your camera on for the duration of the class. Be sure to have a device with a working webcam, audio, and microphone, as well as good internet access.

Use the Zoom meeting link to join the class 30 minutes before class start time, so we can get you checked in.

  • You should have received a confirmation email immediately after purchase, as well as reminder emails the day before and the morning of class. Your Zoom link to join class can be found in any of those emails.
  • Be sure to check your spam folder if it is not in your inbox.
  • Remember to use the Zoom meeting link to join class at least 30 minutes before the official start time, so we can get you checked in.
  • Zoom Confirmation Emails (how you join the class): We will resend everyone’s Zoom confirmation emails 1 hour prior to class start
  •  Class Reminder emails with handouts (if any) and reminders: We send reminder emails on the day before and the day of class (unless class falls on a Monday or Friday; we don’t work weekends)
  • Reminder emails will include: Any class handouts (if applicable), important expectations and requirements; REMINDERS ABOUT KNOWING YOUR TIME ZONE (we’re on Central Time); and student support / instructor contact information.
  • Remember: you must be present with your camera on 100% of the class time. (This is a state requirement, not ours. We cannot make exceptions.)
  • Refunds require a 24-hour written notice.
  • BUT if you miss class and forget to notify us, no worries! Just reach out to our team, and we’re happy to transfer you to a later class.
  • We can only provide one transfer, so if you miss the second class, you will not have the option for a transfer and will forfeit the purchase cost. 
  • You must be present with your camera on for the duration of class. (This is a state requirement, not ours. We cannot make exceptions.)
  • You must be visible and prepared to answer instructor questions (please do not drive, work on other tasks, walk your dog, or anything else that might be distracting to the class).
  • If you have an emergency or are otherwise prevented from being present and visible on camera, please contact one of the class moderators. 
  • Chat Feature
  • Raise Hand Feature (alt + Y is the keyboard shortcut, or click the Reactions button)
  • Mute/Unmute & Stop Video (you should only turn cameras off when on breaks)
  • In addition to the live instructor, we’ll have a team member available to help everything run smoothly during class.
  • Ben Maxwell, our Education Director, will email a Course Evaluation link to all students immediately after class.
  • Once you complete the evaluation, you’ll receive an emailed certificate from our LMS. Please keep in mind that failure to complete this survey will delay your certificate (it is REQUIRED).
  • If you have any issues with the automated certificate, just reply to Ben’s Course Evaluation email and request a PDF copy.
  • If you’re in a state that requires the provider to report on your behalf, we will report your CE after class. Please give us 24 hours to do so. (States in which we report on your behalf include: FL, GA, IL, NC, NV, OH, SC, TX, and UT.)
  • If you have any questions, the instructor and class moderator will stick around for a few minutes after class ends.
