He has testified and appeared in various courts, planning and zoning boards as both an expert and as an agent making valuation arguments before local and state hearing officials and Administrated Law Judges. Peter Christensen
Peter maintains a legal practice focused on assisting clients with legal and regulatory matters concerning real estate valuation and litigation. His clients include appraisers and valuation firms, as well as technology companies and investors. He formerly served as the general counsel of LIA Administrators & Insurance Services, which provides professional liability insurance to more than 15,000 individual real estate appraisers and firms.
His law practice is focused on legal and regulatory issues concerning real estate valuation, appraisal and valuation firms, appraisal management companies and insurance coverage.
Peter’s book, Risk Management for Real Estate Appraisers and Appraisal Firms, was published by the Appraisal Institute in August 2019. He has also published more than 50 articles relating to appraisal legal issues, many appearing in the Appraisal Institute’s Valuation magazine, and has presented hundreds of seminars to appraisers and appraisal/valuation firms.

Craig Capilla
An attorney with the Franklin Law Group in Northfield, Illinois, focusing his practice on representing appraisers and other professionals in state and federal lawsuits against as well as before various licensing bodies.
Previously a prosecutor for the Real Estate Division of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation(IDFPR), Craig has the unique perspective of having been on both sides of litigating appraisal matters, drafting statutes and rules that impact the profession, and working directly with appraisers to minimize the risk of running into trouble.
He has taught seminars on the appraisal practice and limiting liability for licensed professionals, and has frequently been a featured speaker at appraisal organization conferences throughout the Midwest, both as an IDFPR prosecutor, and again since he returned to private practice.
