Thomas H. Humphreys is a real estate appraiser with over 30 years in the business. He grew up measuring houses with his father, Tom Humphreys. In addition to actively appraising real property across the country for most of his career, Mr. Humphreys has served as an expert witness in civil and criminal cases where citizens (many times, appraisers) were accused of fraud or negligence. He is, and has been for the past 10 years, a hearing officer for the Davidson County, Tennessee board of equalization. He has served as a contract investigator for the State of Tennessee, Department of Commerce and Insurance, as a review appraiser and fraud examiner.
With a career-long interest in appraisal best practices, Mr. Humphreys teaches real estate appraisal courses, live and online. In 2008 he purchased an education business and, with the help of his partner, Jim McLeod, founded and built Appraiser eLearnig, an online CE portal for professional appraisers. In his role as Director of Education, Mr. Humphreys has built and delivered CE courses related to appraisal review and appraisal best practices. He brings 30 years of boots-on-the-ground experience to the classroom. He freely shares tips and tricks and best practices for real estate appraisers.
